- Here I am Lord, I Come to do Your Will
Therefore, when Christ enters the world, he says: In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin you had no pleasure. The old plan was only a hint of the good things in the new plan. No matter how many sacrifices were offered year after year, they never added up to a complete solution.
"Lo, I Come": Exposition
If they had, the worshipers would have gone merrily on their way, no longer dragged down by their sins. But instead of removing awareness of sin, when those animal sacrifices were repeated over and over they actually heightened awareness and guilt. That is what is meant by this prophecy, put in the mouth of Christ: God, I have come to do what you want.
I have come—it is written of me in the scroll of the book—to do your will , O God. It is written in the Law that I would.
Then I said, Lo, I come! In the chief part of the book it is written of me, that I will do your will, O God. This is what it says about me in the scroll, the book: Then I said, "See, I have come to do what you, God, want me to do.
