She has a way of understanding animals that is very unusual. The stories are not the expected at all. The love is not the usual sensual nonsense.

The love stories are true, giving love. The kind we all want to find. I am always watching for the next book. I won't summarize this novel since others have done a very good job of doing so.
What I will say is that I enjoy Durgin's work and expected to like this one as well. What I didn't expect was a thoroughly captivating tale that completely immersed me in the journey undertaken.

Unlike some who found issue with the dialect, to me it was one of the facets that brought this tale to life. These people felt real to me in a way that fantasy characters seldom do. If you are looking for something to read that will alternately enrage you, make you cry, and experience intense joy, then Seer's Blood is the book for you. It's well plotted and has excellent characterization. The ozarkish region is very well described. I enjoyed the descriptions of the dogs and their different personalities.
Everyone in this novel dogs and parasitic psychic lifeforms included had their own motivations for their actions. This helped make the plot seamless and believable. Some of the best character development I have found of late.
With the strong plots, together makes for an excellent read. Don't know how I missed Ms Durgin's books to this point but glad I finally found them. It makes me want to see a The book started a little slow for more, but a few chapters in the character development had me drawn into the struggle of the main character. In the end I found myself hoping, mourning, cheering and longing for the best outcome. It makes me want to see a sequel! Durgin is one of my favorite writers. This and the unfortunately named Wolverine's Daughter makes you think you should be looking for a book named Wolverine first, doesn't it?
But try A Feral Darkness by her. Definitely a good read. I enjoyed the storyline very much! The only drawback for me Maybe this is just my pet peeve..
